Caring for Cody- Help spread the word about 8 year old Cody Buzzell’s battle against cancer!

The Bakers Confections recently took part in the Caring for Cody Fundraiser on January 16, 2010 in Buxton, Maine. This event was to raise money for 8 year old Cody Buzzell who is fighting a battle with Astrocytoma a type of cancerous brain tumor. It was a huge success with an amazing $11,168 raised for Cody and his family!! It was a truly rewarding experience for us, and I am sure many other who attended. We don’t want the support from us to end there! The girls here at the Bakers Confections want to make sure Cody gets all the recognition he deserves, so we want to dedicate this section of our page just for updates and events for Caring For Cody! Cody’s Story:
Cody Buzzell, 2nd grader from Buxton, was recently sent home from school when something just didn’t seem right. He was evaluated at Maine Medical Center where doctors confirmed a parent’s worst nightmare, a brain tumor. November 15th changed Cody’s life forever. He underwent surgery that same day, to remove fluid from his brain, then transported to Boston Children’s when he was stable. The following week Cody underwent brain surgery, where doctors removed some of the mass, however; were unable to remove it all. Cody has a rare form of cancer Astrocytosis, which can be treated, but will continue to return. With aggressive experimental treatments Cody could possibly survive up to two years, or longer with a miracle.
We know that times are hard this time of year, especially for Cody’s parents Jessica Buzzell and Ernesto Nieves, both parents are on unpaid leave from work. Please help pay it forward and give from your heart, so that his parents may stay by his side during his courageous battle. Together we can all be Cody’s Angels.

If you, or your business would like to contribute a monetary donation a fund has been established, and contributions can be made at any TD Bank location in Maine under the direction of “CARING FOR CODY.”
