The girls here at The Bakers Confections recently heard a story about Cody, an 8 year old boy in Maine who is fighting a very courageous battle against a rare form of cancer, Astrocytoma. We were lucky enough to be a part of a large fundraiser on January 16th called Caring For Cody that raised $11,168 for his family. With Cody as our inspiration we want to keep giving, so we decided we would like to donate part of the sales of some of the items on our website and in our etsy shop to the Maine Children’s Cancer Program. This program is based here in Scarborough, Maine and their mission statement says it all:
The Maine Children’s Cancer Program was created to meet the needs of children with cancer and their families. Based in Scarborough, the program’s treatment center is a special place where children with cancer, and their families from across Maine and New Hampshire, find the highest quality medical care, along with support, love and hope. Our goal is to help keep cancer from getting in the way of letting kids be kids.
For our part we will be donating 20% of all sales of any cookies & rice crispy pops on our website and in our etsy shop. Cody’s favorite dessert is a chocolate chip cookie and our rice crispy pops are just plain fun! You can also donate directly to The Maine Children’s Cancer Program right from their website. For more information on this organization go to their website or Facebook page. Also check out the Caring for Cody Facebook page to see his story and become a fan. Check out our etsy shop today to see how you can get some sweet treats and raise money for a great cause at the same time!!
